☀️ Unseasonably High Temperatures in Houston
Houston is experiencing unusually high temperatures, with forecasts predicting highs in the low 90s°F (32-34°C) for the coming week. This heat wave is part of a broader pattern affecting much of the U.S., with Texas cities like Austin and San Antonio facing extended periods of triple-digit temperatures.
✈️ Hobby Airport Electricity Outage
“Houston’s Hobby Airport experienced a power loss and equipment outage on Sunday. It began just after 1 p.m.
According to the Houston Airport System and the FAA, the air traffic control tower at Hobby Airport lost power around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday. Backup generators kicked in, but the outage still caused brief delays for incoming flights.” - read more
⚾️ Houston Astros Minor League Players Achieve Milestones
Houston Astros' minor league affiliates have seen remarkable performances. On May 10, Brice Matthews of the Sugar Land Space Cowboys hit for the cycle, leading to a 12–7 victory over the Salt Lake Bees. On May 13, Colin Barber of the Corpus Christi Hooks also hit for the cycle, contributing to a 20–14 win against the Frisco RoughRiders.
⚽️ Houston to Host 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final
NRG Stadium in Houston will host the final match of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup on July 6, 2025. This will be the first time the final is held at this venue, which is also slated to host matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
